La Granja Royal Palace
Located in the Guadarrama mountain range in the province of Segovia.
This group of buildings was commissioned by King Philip V of Spain, who enlarged the gardens and palace. The palace was used as a summer residence by the King and all of his successors until King Alfonso XIII.
Inside, highlights include the Chinese Lacquer Room decorated by Panini and the tapestry collection.
The gardens are one of the best examples of eighteenth-century gardens,
designed by French architect René Carlier.
