Real Maestranza de Ronda

The Maestranza monumental and artistic complex includes a bullfighting museum, collections of harnesses and firearms and an eighteenth-century bullring — the oldest in Spain.

Created by King Philip II in 1573, this aristocratic institution required local nobility to help train the cavalry for military purposes. The Real Maestranza includes the Ronda Bullring, which was built at the end of the eighteenth century and is one of the most popular monuments in Andalusia.
The grounds are also home to the Bullfighting Museum, the Harness collection from the House of Orléans, which includes pieces belonging to King Louis Philippe I of France, and an antique firearms collection - one of the most interesting collections of its kind in Spain.
